I will be, in the coming month, forming the first Kara team. If you would like to be part of it, post a message on this thread. You will need to be keyed for Kara or be in the process of being keyed. I will be posting minimum gear and ability requirements soon. Our goal is to have a team geared and ready to go sometime in February depending on our resources.

Kara is a 10 man raid and depending on what bosses we decide to tackle, that would be the make up of the team for that run.

I look forward to seeing the Rangers take on the Tower in Deadwind pass.

I would like to prepare for this. I am going to be starting the chain to obtain the key for kara...and i should hit 70 within the next week or so...hopefully?!!?!? I just hope I can meet the gear/ablility requirements.

And, hey, at least ya know i have Vent now! =)

As many fellow Rangers know, I am incredibly inconvenienced by my school, but I am eagerly anticipating a Rangers Kara Team. Fear not, however, young warriors, I would much prefer a role as DPS and offtank, as long as you are decently geared.

Some guidelines for you young warriors (and tank pallies!!):
- Uncrittable = 350 base Defense + 15 Defense for level difference + 5*25 Defense for each 1% reduced crit = *490 Defense*
- Mitigation = dodge + block + parry = (not sure on these numbers)
- Damage reduction (not sure on these numbers)
- High health (not sure on these numbers)

As a feral druid, my numbers are approximately (your numbers will differ):
- Uncrittable (-3% chance to be crit from Survival of the Fittest, -3% chance to be crit from resilience, 415/365 Defense)
- Mitigation (~35% dodge)
- Damage reduction (~70% damage reduction -- 25k armor)
- ~13k health, fully buffed

*** I urge everyone who plans on going to look up "decent" numbers for their role in the raid, especially tanks and healers.

I balieve the question im needing to ask is what are you needing from me? party enhancment & mass dps from Prayator or the ever present HoT's from Kayalyn's restoration abilities? if you need the extra healing then Kayalyn will need her last lvl & to keyed & geared. Prayator is Keyed & geared already

okay...so, workin hard on getting better gear...but i have a question...

if i'm not MM spec'd, what would you suggest to get my AP up? unbuffed i'm still sitting at around 1049 ranged AP.

Help?

as a hunter whos not MM your looking more at your trapping & pets dps output depending on if you are serv or beast. personal dps would be good if it was getting upwards of 1500 but 1k+ is a good start depending on what the pet is doing...Prayators is only about that but you then look at how many times hes hitting & the healing hes doing when he is hitting (i love being a Shaman)

No, the reverse is true though. Your ranged AP counts towards your pet's damage.

Hunter is a fun class because each spec is so incredibly different. Marksman looks at Agility and Intellect for AP. Beastmaster, again, is more focused on the pet than the hunter himself. Survival has some amazing high-level talents that take advantage of high agility. Each of the three is a feasible build and I would never ask anyone to change their build between one DPS build and another in order to raid.

Back to topic, though: as a Beastmaster, you will want to ensure your pet's survivability. There are two difficult scenarios to prepare for involving your pet:

1) They die quickly against some bosses. This can be remedied by knowing the fights and applying good micro-management of your pet.

2) They are hard to control and place themselves in a position to aggro other mobs. This can be fixed by choosing a good position from which to launch your attack.

As for your own DPS, I'd suggest high agility for a primary set of gear, but bring some intellect gear in case you find you're running out of mana frequently.

or my

shadowpriest Akumastu +1300 shadow dmg, max spell hit etc etc.

I don't need many items from Karazhan, I wouldn't mind picking up some off spec. stuff.

I have cleared Kara many times on both toons, and can lend advice on all boss fights, raid make up etc etc.

Not that his tanking prowess doesn't speak for itself, but, as someone who has tanked by his side before, I can attest his Stew's abilities. You would be very wise to take him up on his offer. Smile

So, yeah, I threw myself to the forum lions about my gear...and amazingly, I didn't get flamed! I had alot of constructive comments thrown my way...but I was basically told that my gear and stats are good enough to "start" Kara...

So, I'm wondering, how close are we to even having a team? I've got ants in my pants about it...

I went there once with Ava just to see what it looked like...and it was Disney's Haunted Mansion...

I can't WAIT to go play in there! (and have my backside handed to me...::giggle: Smile
