I am of the Melad'rhim, the Grey Elves, and this is my story.
I was born more than a century ago so am still quite young by my clan's reckoning. To humans I am old but I have barely begun my life.
My first years were spent with many of my aunts, uncles and cousins; a good time of learning and training. As an elf of the Melad, I was taught early to endure much hardship and learn to depend upon myself and the resources around me to survive. As a nomadic people, the Melad have little in the way of possessions and our homes are tents and trees. Where ever we traveled, we learned to give and take equally from the land. I look back with much fondness to those early years and often yearn to visit my clan again.
As the years passed, I hunted and learned from my elders all those things that would make my passage into young adulthood and full clan membership smooth and easy. This was my goal, what I wanted, until I saw the sea. Now the Meliad have always looked to the sea, but that is all they have ever done... looked. I not only looked to the sea but over those years the sea pulled at me, I found that as time passed, I no longer was content to only look and dream. I wanted to travel upon the sea, to visit the lands beyond, to leave the land my ancestors traveled upon; thus I came upon the land of Azeroth. |
