.
Thanks again for all who participated in our last run. We did a bit better this time. I think we are getting closer w/Moroes and will hopefully get him next time. We did - once again - get 3 Epic Items - which doesn't suck plus lots of Violet Eye Rep which is always good.
Note: All Raid members need to bring 20 x Guardian and 20 x Battle Elixirs and/or a few Flasks is good too (and flasks will be much cheaper if we die alot) for their particular toon (plus plenty of mana, healing and rejuvenation potions as appropriate - at least 15 of each). Plus food w/bonuses appropriate to your class. Also since this Raid will be 6 hours, 10a-4p, we will have a 15min lunch\food\drink\kiss your sweetie break at 1pm Server Time.

A few things.
- We're gonna want a prot warrior to MT. I am receiving a LOT of crushing blows, which warriors do a much better job of mitigating (block).
- DPS classes should look at using flasks instead of elixirs. We have been able to count on wiping on the bosses (except Attumen), and several deaths getting to the bosses. Save yourselves the money and invest in a flask. You can probably check out the Shadowsong realm forums for a list of alchemists who can produce your desired flask.
- I can make Healing Power and Draenic Wisdom for our healers, Major Agility for myself, and Major Defense and Major Strength for a prot warrior tank. I generally do not have mats on-hand, so if you would like me to make elixirs or potions for you, please get me the mats.
- For Moroes, we NEED two priests, preferably one shadow. We should have two pallies to bubble off Garrote -- they do not both need to be holy, but it'd be nice if they were.
- For Maiden, healing is extremely important. It would be especially nice to have a priest, a pally, and a resto druid or another pally. Don't waste your money on the holy protection potions.
- I strongly recommend our healers and anyone who will be dispelling magic get an add-on that tells who is victim of X attack. Lucreccia has a good one if anyone needs a recommendation.
- If you're going to be raiding on Sunday, DO YOUR HOMEWORK! You need to know your job for each boss before we get there. We cannot afford to spend 10 minutes before each fight explaining what people are supposed to do. If everyone knows their job, things will go much more smoothly.
- I strongly believe we should do the following, in order:
* Attumen
* Named Beasts
* Moroes
* Maiden
- Read up on those fights. There are three named beasts, each drop a random purple -- a belt, bracers, and boots. In addition, it's great rep.
- Also, read up on the Curator in case we get there. It's not a difficult fight, but requires that everybody knows the fight.
- I do not think we should go any further than Curator, as we are nowhere near appropriately geared. Curator might be a stretch.
- Preferred guild makeup (suggestions):
* Tanks: 2 different classes, though having the third is not bad if they have a DPS set for when they're not tanking. Also, there are non-boss fights in which only one tank is needed... the other tanks should be in DPS gear until needed for tanking.
* Healers: Holy priest, Holy pally, 1 of: resto druid, resto shaman, another holy pally.
* Dispelling: We need 2 pallies, at least one of which should be holy.
* CC: We need 2 priests, at least one of which should be holy. Preference for shadow on the second. A hunter would also be very useful. A warlock is useful as well.
* Other DPS: Rogue, mage, warlock, moonkin, feral druid, in addition to the preferred shadow priest and hunter for CC
** Prot warrior, feral druid, holy priest, holy pally, holy pally, shadow priest or hunter, 4 DPS (we have a rogue, warlock, mage, and moonkin)
- Did I mention...? EVERYONE IN THE RAID GROUP NEEDS TO READ ABOUT AND UNDERSTAND THE FIGHTS BEFOREHAND. |

I agree with most of what Aarisa(Xiera) said.
Let me add for now that Magic Resistance Potions (MRP's) might be a possible option. Since your "Holy Resistance" does not show on your character sheet I was wondering if Magic Resistance Potions actually ad to your Holy Resistance or not....

I don't know. Says all schools. My guess would be that it works. |

Skip the beast bosses... the drops from them arent very good...and they take a long time to clear.
When I said the "4th boss" I meant the 4th boss of SSC.
I have cleared Kara many times. My guild only does alt runs, and i was looking for somethign to do on Sunday afternoon, if i dont go on the alt runs with my guild.
Feel free to check out my gear here:

Don't particularly care about the drops from them... they give us the chance to experience some raid bosses as a group and have some success. This is especially important as we've not made it past Moroes or Maiden and we're incorporating new group members. Besides, it's some good rep. I see no reason not to down them.
EDIT: Oh, and nice armor. Gonna be nice having someone who's geared up for this. I was MT'ing in blues. |

Upon further thought, I have come to believe that Kara tests the ability of each of the three kinds of tanks: prot warrior, prot pally, and bear. These are not needed every fight, so they should bring DPS and/or healing sets with them.
Warriors have high health and block, meaning they take burst damage when they don't block and very little damage otherwise.
Druids have high armor and dodge, meaning they take little damage, but are more susceptible to crushing blows.
Not sure about pallies, but they also have block to mitigate crushing blows.
What this does for us:
Attumen - nothing. Only two tanks are needed for Attumen. The third can DPS.
Hyakiss (beast) - two tanks fighting for aggro. The third can DPS.
Rokad (beast) - one tank (preferred bear for high armor).
Shadikith (beast) - two tanks at opposite ends of the room. Any melee DPS should be split between those opposite sides. Preferred tanks: warrior and pally due to block -- main and off, respectively.
Moroes - Two tanks are needed on Moroes while the guests are being killed. The third (preferred pally) should tank whichever guest is currently being targeted. This will save our healers' mana and our DPSers' lives. Pally tank should be prepared to bubble garrote off party members and fear any guests that break early.
Maiden - Only one tank is needed. The pally tank should put on healing gear and be ready to dispel magic and use the share-damage blessing on a melee DPS to avoid Countenance. The druid tank should switch to DPS gear, or healing gear if necessary.
Curator - Best with three tanks. Suggested that the prot warrior tank Curator, prot pally should be second on threat list to absorb Hateful Bolts, bear in DPS gear on summoned adds.
(1) Prot warrior
(2) Prot pally
(3) Feral druid
(4) Holy priest
(5) Holy pally
(6) Here, we need 1 more healer, 1 more priest, and one more DPS.
- shadow priest, resto druid/other healer
- holy priest, hunter/other DPS
(7) Warlock
(8-10) Other DPS
And another friendly reminder to read up on all the battles I listed above. Some time before the raid, I will make a strategy post for each boss, but I expect people to understand the fights so that the strategies make sense. |

Since I was stuck on nightshift, I thouhgt I would give you a breakdown of what a couple of guilds I have ckeared Kara with use for their party makeup.
A well organized team with a few epics can clear Kara in 4-5hours.
A well geared group will clear it in 3-4 hours.
In sayng that well geared group that doesn't play as a team...will wipe for sure.
I think my guilds record so far is 3hrs 15 minutes or somethig like that.
I agree with most of your raid make up...
This what we normally take...
2 tanks (any tanking class will do) Personally I like one prot pally and a warrior.
1 pally (main healer on main tank)
2 priest (often one shadow, 1 healing) Healing one normally takes OT.
1 other healing class (druid is nice for the innervate and because they heal rest of raid very efficiently)
1 hunter (used as main puller/marker) Misdirect FTW
1 lock
1 mage
1 rogue
although the last 3 slots can be filled with any DPS.
Group 1 Makeup:
Two Tanks
Lock (imp buff)
Pally (aura buff) If you use a prot pally, the healing pally can be in the other group to get mana from shadow priest.
Rogue or other dps class
Group 2 Makeup:
shadow priest (free mana for other healers)
Healing priest
Druid
Mage
Hunter
What are your thoughs on this make up?
Have your priets been using the auto re shackle macro?
If you want to discuss any of the fights, set up etc. Feel free to pst me in game. I should be on my warrior Akumastew or my priest Akumastu. A sure way to find me is do a /who akuma.
Are you guys requiring addons, like KTM threatmeter or deadlyboss mobs?

First things first: I (feral druid) will be unavailable starting on 25 August and lasting until Thanksgiving (US holiday), so you will need to fill that second tank spot.
That said, I think your group make-up looks decent. As I have only killed Attumen and wiped against Maiden and Moroes, you obviously have more experience than I. It goes without saying that a well -organised- group is important, but I think that the group should also be well -versed- in the fights.
I do not know what others have been using for macros... I personally do not like using add-ons, as I feel most of them take away from the challenge of the game. (This means that if I'm tanking at all, a threat meter is going to do little good.)
As for what we have readily available...
- Two tanks ... check
- Lock ... check
- Pally ... check
- Rogue ... check
- Shadow priest ... nope
- Holy priest ... check
- Resto druid ... (we have a moonkin that runs away from healing but still has Innervate for the healers)
- Mage ... check, I think
- Hunter ... possible check
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the following things are important:
- Organisation... even with all the knowledge in the world, if people aren't organised, bad things will happen
- Gear... an unfortunate fact of the game: gear matters
- Knowledge... knowing the fights is 90% of the battle
- Experience... leads to knowledge and gear
- Team familiarity... experience playing together is always useful
Individuals can start with the gear and knowledge departments. |
